In the watch world, there are great companies that create their own in house movements. Rolex, Omega, Seiko, and more. They offer in house movements that are an excellent pitch for customer dollars, and many watch collectors love a company that makes the whole watch, inside and out. Yes ETA and Sellita make fine movements that are used by excellent watch designers worldwide, but nothing quite impresses a watch lover the way in house movements do. So when we consider Arnold & Son, we must be impressed by the way they make every movement that goes into every watch they sell.

In fact every new watch they release, has its own new watch movement. That really is awesome and helps set the firm apart from their competition. Here in 2019, Arnold & Son is launching the Nebula 38. The case for this watch is made of 18k red gold, having matching gold hands, and the movement accents the overall look of the watch. The design of this watch is basically created to fit around the watch movement, and the movement is the show stopper here. Inside the Nebula 38 is the A&S 5101 hand wound movement. It is sandwiched between two scratch resistant sapphire crystals that offer a full view of the skeleton dial design. The movement is able to show off 10 chamfered bridges that have been treated with palladium.

The watch also shows off dual barrels, and the NAC treated main plate. The two barrels in the movement offer the owner a 90 hour power reserve. That is quite good. As for the frequency, the watch beats at 21,600 vph. This watch movement has a very detailed level of finishing, and the fact that it was solely created for this watch, makes the movement very unique. In this Nebula 38, we once again see the pride that Arnold & Son take in its watch movement creation. It is pleasantly unusual to see a watch company that designs watches around a movement they have just created. i love it. Seems backwards, but it is backwards in the coolest of ways. The movement takes the leading role in this watch, and that is just fine. The case is 38 millimeters in diameter, and has 8.91 millimeters in thickness.

Excellent size for a dress watch. The watch only has 30 meters of water resistance, so i would not take the watch swimming. The 18k red gold case has front and back sapphire, and a sweet exhibition waiting at the caseback for the owner. The watch offers a brandy red or grey strap. Dress watches such as this one are great for black tie events, and can comfortably be worn with a suit or tuxedo. Watches such as this help remind us that true skill and craftsmanship do still exist, and the art of watchmaking is alive and well. Only 50 of these watches will be made initially, and they will sell for about $23,000. Please go to for more information.
