Arnold & Son is world famous for its incredible watches. Take the Globetrotter for example. Simply amazing. The firm has a way of blending high end Swiss manufacturing with a cool design aesthetic that is very unique. So here we are in 2019, and the company is unveiling its new Time Pyramid Watch. The watch has a new movement, and the Time Pyramid Tourbillon is the company’s next level in the Pyramid Collection of watches.
The piece has two separate power reserves that are sandwiches with a tourbillon between a sapphire dial and a sapphire display back. The skeleton caliber is in honor of the Arnold & Son regulators. They feature hours and the seconds on different axes. The movement was built vertical, having two mainspring barrels at 6 o’clock, and the tourbillon escapement being at the noon position. One can view the entire movement from either side of the piece. As for the material, the watch is available in 18k 5n red gold, or in stainless steel.
As for the feel of the watch, it appears to be the logical progression for the Pyramid watch line. The first version was without the tourbillon, and so it seems to make sense that this watch would have the first tourbillon in it. I think it is a great idea to offer this watch in stainless steel immediately, as opposed to waiting for the gold option to run its course. The watch movement is very decorated and has a very haute appearance to it. The sapphire viewing crystals help to display that aspect.
It seems to be a bit interesting that the company would make reference to the old British skeleton clocks in this collection. The addition of a tourbillon takes this watch to another level, and the dual power reserve indicators located at the 9 and the 3, are also quite unique. The watch has a very ample 90 hours of power reserve. The crown is located at the 6 o’clock. If you are a collector who wants a highly finished watch, that is also very exclusive, this is a great choice for you. The watch is not intended for the water, and has a resistance depth of 30 meters. Th stainless steel version is selling for $37,000, and the red gold version is $47,000.
