Panerai Luminor 1950 10 Days GMT.

The watch firm Panerai is offering a limited edition, USA exclusive, timepiece that is quite attractive. The Luminor 1950 10 Days GMT comes in a 44 millimeter design done for Design Miami. The reference number for this watch is PAM986, and it comes with a beautiful blue dial. This PAM986 is based on the PAM533, and so the long time Panerai lovers will know the case is that chunky 44 millimeter 1950 style.

If you have a thin wrist, this is the wrong watch for you, but if your wrist is ample, you may just love this watch. The dial is the same as other Luminor GMT 10 Days, but this one is done in a very striking shade of blue. It is a sunburst blue, and the light plays sweet games with it. Another difference with tis watch is the choice of silver for the hands.

This offers great contrast with the blue dial, and is very legible. The date is located at the 3 o’clock, the running seconds and the 24 hour indicator is at the 9 o’clock. The power reserve indicator is at the 6 o’clock, and the dial has the signature Panerai sandwich structure. Yes the dial is quite busym but it is laid out nicely, and is still very clear and legible. The watch offers a blue strap that is matching to the dial.

The timepiece is powered by the Panerai caliber P.2003, and this is one of the firm’s earlier in house movements. The movement is self winding, and has a frequency of 4Hz, The power reserve is an incredible 240 hours. Yes that’s correct. 10 full days of power reserve. They manage this by having 3 spring barrels in the movement. You can watch this movement in action via the exhibition caseback. Both the crystal and the caseback are made of sapphire, and are brilliant.

So when we sum it up, this watch is a bit more than just a variant. The blue dial really is something special, and it is a very nice tease for Panerai fans. The watch is limited to 250 pieces, and to learn more you will go to panerai.com. Thanks for reading, and have a great day.
